We are looking for a full time employee to provide intensive, short term or long-term in-home mental health intervention and family education, based on program specification, to Afghan families at risk. This position requires good organization and documentation skills, strong time management, and the ability to work with both refugee and mainstream communities.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide in-home education and support to family units

2. Present cases to supervisor for review of progress

3. Provide appropriate referrals for clients requiring additional or alternative services

4. Assume therapeutic responsibility for all cases on assigned caseload; conduct intake, assessment and scheduling of all assigned clients

5. Collaborate with referral sources, agencies, institutions and individuals who have important roles in the family's life situation

6. Complete client follow up at intervals as outlined

7. Complete and maintain all reports, statistics and assignments as required. Enter all required data in required systems in a timely manner

8. Participate in all required training and effectively implement learned skills

Job Qualifications

Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

• The individual must have at least high school diploma or equivalent from country of origin and is expected to have an interest in being actively engaged within the Afghan community

Experience

• Experience working with families and the ability to relate is preferred
• Experience in strength-based, family-centered, solution focused approaches is preferred
• Must be able to speak, read and write Dari or Pashto fluently

Additional Work Requirements

• Valid driver's license with good driving record; reliable ongoing personal transportation suitable for safely transporting clients; current automobile registration and proof of automobile insurance preferred
