Duties And Responsibilities

Provide support services for the Transitional Foster Care (TFC) program.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Respond immediately to referral/intake calls from contractor
  2. Coordinate placements with designated shelter staff or foster parents by contacting them to arrange for placement. Track all referral and placements
  3. Develop and maintain the on call/intake schedule and assignments of intakes in coordination with the program supervisor
  4. Complete the required program data sheets and submit to the appropriate individuals within the required timeframe
  5. Coordinate discharges of youth with the assigned team and sponsor. Prepare the discharge packet and give to the identified travel escort
  6. Make travel arrangements in a cost efficient manner by following Samaritas policies
  7. Identify the travel escort by utilizing the Samaritas procedures
  8. Provide oversight, leadership and train travel escorts
  9. Track the sponsor’s payments and refunds for each youth’s travel

Qualifications

Job Qualifications

 

Education, Training, and Licensure/Certification

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services related field preferred

Experience

 

  • Three years of progressively responsible office experience
  • Knowledge of and experience working with refugee or immigrant children preferred
  • Travel coordination experience preferred

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

 

  • Ability to be on-call 24/7 to respond to intakes
  • Understanding of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the individuals served
  • Ability to work constructively with staff, clients and referral/funding source
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, to compute payments and refunds
  • Ability to effectively speak, read and write English language; ability to prepare business letters, summaries and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction and style. Bi-lingual skills in Spanish-English preferred
  • Detail orientated with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively
  • Ability to effectively utilize various computer programs, proficiency in Microsoft office applications
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with personnel and client information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to read, speak and write English using proper grammar, diction and style. Ability to communicate expectations clearly and professionally, and to effectively utilize a teamwork approach with staff of all levels
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to provide direction and guidance to staff
  • Understands and follows instructions
