What You’ll Do:

  • Support the Intake/Discharge Coordinator in managing all aspects of intake and discharge
  • Ensure timely communication and accurate documentation for every youth
  • Collaborate with program staff and external stakeholders to maintain compliance and efficiency
  • Contribute to a welcoming environment for youth entering or leaving care

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 21 years' of age or older for this role
  • Office experience; familiarity with ORR processes preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow detailed instructions
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to drive self and clients while on Samaritas business

This position has a pay rate of $20.00/hour and $22.00 for Spanish bi-lingual

Duties And Responsibilities

The Assistant Intake/Discharge Coordinator supports the Intake/Discharge Coordinator in managing all aspects of the intake and discharge process for minors in the UC shelter. This role ensures timely coordination, documentation, and communication with internal teams and external stakeholders, contributing to the smooth transition of youth into and out of care.

 

Intake Coordination

 

  • Respond immediately to referral/intake calls from the contractor
  • Coordinate placements with designated shelter staff and track all referrals and placements
  • Participate in on-call intake schedule and assignments

 

Discharge Coordination

 

  • Assist with coordinating youth discharges with the assigned team and sponsor
  • Prepare discharge packets and deliver them to the identified travel escort
  • Identify travel escorts per Samaritas procedures
  • Ensure timely delivery of discharge notifications to stakeholders

 

Documentation and Support

 

  • Complete documentation and filing in a timely manner
  • Assist with training and orienting new travel escorts

 

Performance Metrics

 

  • Timeliness and accuracy of intake and discharge documentation
  • Responsiveness to referral calls
  • Stakeholder satisfaction with coordination efforts

 

Skills and Competencies

 

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer programs
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Understanding of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual Spanish-English strongly preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

Qualifications

Education

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

 

Experience

 

  • Office work; experience with ORR processes preferred

 

Knowledge Requirements

 

  • Confidentiality in handling personnel and client information
  • Ability to follow instructions and work constructively with staff, clients, and funding sources

 

Travel Requirements

 

  • Must be able to drive self and clients while on Samaritas business
